A TeamSnap alternative for small clubs

By mysports.io · Updated October 26, 2026

TeamSnap is a good team app that grew a registration product on top. For a club of 100–200 families, that product starts around $599 a year, isn't fully priced on the website, and passes a per-transaction fee to parents by default. Here's what to weigh, and what mysports.io does differently.

What TeamSnap for clubs costs

The club product (TeamSnap ONE) is quote-based. Listings put the floor at about $599 a year; the processing rate isn't published, and third-party estimates put it around 3.25% + $1.50 per transaction, which TeamSnap's help centre confirms is passed to the registrant by default. For a 150-family club doing 400 registrations a year, that's roughly $600 from the club and $1,800 from the families. The free team plan tops out at 15 members and isn't a registration tool.

What small clubs say

From the public reviews, the complaints cluster around three things:

  • Re-entering the family. Parents report entering their own details again for each child rather than once per household.
  • Ads. Paying for a premium plan doesn't remove ads for the team; several reviewers call that a deal-breaker.
  • The app requirement. Messages are delivered in the app; a parent who hasn't installed it misses them.

None of those are about registration failing. They're about a product built for team management first, with registration bolted on.

When TeamSnap is the right choice

If your coaches live by the schedule, availability and chat features, and your parents already have the app from other teams, TeamSnap's team product is hard to beat and worth its price. Registration is where it's weakest and most expensive.

When it isn't

If what the board needs is registration, payments and a roster, with the money in the club's own account and no fee on the families, you're paying for a lot you won't use. Some clubs run both: mysports.io for registration and money, a free team app for the schedule.
